Nonextraction Treatment of a Skeletal Class I Malocclusion Patient with a Large Overjet and Deep Overbite Using Orthodontic Microimplants
Lee Ba-Wool
Abstract
Deep bite is known as one of the most common malocclusions, and its treatment and retention are often challenging. Especially, in patients with an excess overjet and proclined maxillary incisors, a deep bite is associated with overeruption of the mandibular incisors. The use of microimplant has been suggested as an ideal method for the intrusion of incisors in deep bite patients. Careful biomechanical consideration and monitoring are required to design an appropriate force system. This clinical case report presents the skeletal I malocclusion with deep overbite and large overjet by distalization of the whole maxillary dentition and intrusion of the anterior teeth using microimplant.
